Hello Dr. Joyce,
Just to update you, my mother and I live in a mobile home park in South Gate, CA. In October there was an incident involving my dog and the park manager. The manager came to my mobile home to look at a water pipe on the outside of my property that was leaking. The manager did not tell us he was coming by. When he showed up he came really close to our dining room window (no where near the leaking pipe!) and was looking into the window when he surprised my 80 year old mother and she yelled ‘What are you doing’, this alerted our dog Chopper that my mom was being threatened and he starting barking loudly and pushed the window screen out. The manager then starting cursing my mother and he threatened to take our deposit. I came home when I found out what happened and tried to talk to the park managers. They threatened me with a lawyer if I did not remove my ‘vicious’ dog that day. I took Chopper to our vet hoping they would calm down and I could talk with them about what happened. I waited 5 days and call them again and was again threatened with a lawyer.
That was when I got on the internet and found your web site. Reading the testimonials was like reading my own story. From the start of the episode the park manager made me feel like I had no rights and that it did not matter what their behavior was.
You called me back right away, which was shocking, I did not expect such a quick response or to get such great advice. You advised me on how to find the park owners, which I did. When I contacted the family who owned the park I was prepared on how to state my case because of the advice you had given me. They knew that their park managers were heavy handed!
The next day they hired a new property manager to oversee the park managers. The new property manager and the oldest daughter of the owner came to my home and apologized to my mother for the behavior of the park managers. One week after that we were able to work out an agreement with the property manager and brought our Chopper back home!!! We also got them to agree that if any park staff needed to come to our home, it would not be the park manager who cursed at my mother.
Needless to say, Chopper is a beloved member of our family and I feel that God lead me to your web page. I recommend your service to anyone having trouble with their home owner associations or mobile home park managers. Some of these people seem to have God complexes and they can be so aggressive. They can be very good at making you feel powerless.
